Caerphilly County Borough Council is developing a new Air Quality Strategy.

Air quality refers to the condition of the air around us, including the levels of pollutants that can affect our health, wellbeing, and the environment. Poor air quality can have impacts on people’s respiratory and cardiovascular health and can also affect local communities and the natural environment.

To understand and manage air quality, Caerphilly County Borough Council currently monitors local air quality using a combination of methods:

• Diffusion tube monitoring: This involves placing small tubes at multiple locations across the borough to measure nitrogen dioxide levels over time.

• Automatic monitoring stations: These continuously record pollutant levels in specific areas around the borough.

The results of this monitoring are published in the Council’s Annual Progress Reports, helping to track trends, identify problem areas, and inform policies and actions to improve air quality.

This survey asks for your views on local air quality, including your access to information, how air quality impacts you, and the changes you would like to see in the future. Your feedback will help shape the new Air Quality Strategy and guide actions to improve air quality across the County Borough.
