We’re hosting a month-long exhibition to update you on the Caerphilly Town 2035 projects to date – and we want to hear your thoughts about the proposed plans in the town centre.

This evening event will be a chance to meet the wider team involved in each project, and have your queries answered in person.

Why are we consulting?
The aim of this event is to inform residents and businesses of the proposed Caerphilly town 2035 plans and gather feedback.
Some of these projects have already been through public consultation, as indicated, but there will be opportunities for you to formally consult on others as they progress, in the future.
This event is not a formal consultation.
Have your say
If you would like to share your views, please use the interactive map, complete the online survey, or drop in to an in-person event for a discussion with the project team on the above dates. There is also the opportunity to leave your feedback at the library throughout the duration of the event.
This survey is also available in Welsh. It is available in other languages on request.

Caerphilly Castle 2025
What
Cadw has invested £10 million to transform Wales’ largest medieval fortress, Caerphilly Castle. Cadw will be creating new facilities, fresh interactive exhibitions and fun play spaces for visitors.
Where
Caerphilly Castle.
Why
These exciting improvements will not only bring Caerphilly Castle to life but also conserve the castle for future generations to explore and enjoy.
When
Plans are progressing with phase 1 beginning in 2024 and phase 2 in 2025. Expected completion in 2026.

Cultural Centre 2028
What
Caerphilly’s Workmen Hall – a grade II listed building – is a community arts and entertainment venue located opposite the famous Caerphilly Castle. Numerous evening events are held here, but urgent maintenance is required. The ambition is to create a vibrant, freely accessible cultural centre that forms a revitalised creative hub for the town.
Where
Caerphilly’s Workmen Hall – situated in the centre of Caerphilly Town.
Why
The team of committed volunteers and trustees are eager to host more community-focused events and develop a re-energised cultural destination. But it can only happen with external funding.
When
The project is at a very early stage of development. Expected approximately 2028.

Ffos Caerffili 2024
What
Ffos Caerffili will be an eco-friendly, fresh, modern, multifunctional space. It will host a mixture of eateries, local independent shops, flexible workspaces, and outdoor events.
Where
Located on Cardiff Road, Ffos Caerffili will connect the high street to the park, and provide stunning views over the castle and town centre. A perfect place to get together at any time of year.
Why
We are responding to a demand for a modern market and more places to eat, drink, shop, work and meet following the closure of the indoor market.
When
Approved building work is well underway, with Ffos Caerffili set to open in the new year.

Hotel and Leisure Quarter 2028
What
An 80-bed lifestyle hotel with corporate and wedding orientated facilities. This development will boost Caerphilly’s strong network of regional business centres and local traders supporting leisure, tourism, and commercial demands.

Cardiff Road.
Why
The proposed Hotel & Leisure Quarter location represents a significant development opportunity for Caerphilly and the surrounding areas.
When
Plans are still in very early stages. Expected approximately 2028.

Leisure and Wellbeing Hub 2026
What
Caerphilly’s new Leisure & Wellbeing Hub will become the flagship facility for the whole county borough. The hub will boast a new swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness suite, spa and wellbeing facilities.
Where
The facility will be situated on land adjacent to Caerphilly Business Park.
Why
The proposed Leisure & Wellbeing Hub represents a significant development opportunity for more jobs, tourism, new trade, and future generations in Caerphilly and the wider borough.
When
Construction is due to commence in August 2024 and is expected to open in January 2026.

Pentrebane Street Apartments 2026
What
Linc Cymru has partnered with Caerphilly County Borough Council and Welsh Government to build 70 apartments to transform Pentrebane Street. The development will offer brand-new business space and provide affordable, modern housing.
Where
The apartments will be located on Pentrebane and Clive Street, right in the heart of Caerphilly Town.
Why
To reinvigorate the town centre, increase footfall by promoting the integration of modern living, working and shopping.
When
Initial design proposals are currently being developed. Planning permission is yet to be secured.

Transport Interchange 2026
What
As part of the Caerphilly Town 2035 Placemaking Plan, a new Public Transport Interchange will be introduced to Caerphilly Town. This gateway will welcome new visitors while providing great facilities for passengers and the community.
Where
Caerphilly Station, Cardiff Road.
Why
To create a landmark destination and sustainable, customer focused transport that effortlessly connects people with trains, buses, active travel and taxis in Caerphilly.
When
Caerphilly County Borough Council is working with Welsh Government, Transport for Wales and the Design Commission for Wales on the interchange scheme, with the aim of having it ready for use by the end of 2026.
