Consultation has concluded
Working closely with housing association partners, the Council has recently completed a review of the Common Allocation Policy. As a result of the review findings, the Council is now proposing to introduce a series of amendments which will help address the pressures created by the housing crisis and improve the rehousing process by adopting a choice based lettings approach.
Why are we consulting?
In response to increasing numbers of people presenting as homelessness to the Council over the last few years and the resultant pressure on providing suitable temporary accommodation to meet its homelessness duties, the Council decided to undertake a large-scale review of the Common Allocation Policy
If you are unable to complete the online survey and would like a paper copy please contact Mark Jennings via email: stratanddevelop@caerphilly.gov.uk or telephone: 01443 863121. If you would like further information about the changes to policy please use the same contact details.
The Council is not able to respond directly to any personal issues included in the online survey. If you wish to update your current housing application please visit:
When the consultation exercise is completed people’s views will be considered and the policy will be finalised. The policy will then be presented to Cabinet for approval in June 2025. Following approval the new policy will be introduced.
