The Council is seeking views on a proposal to revise the entry age requirement for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicles in the borough. The current council vehicle specification and conditions requires vehicles to be licensed before their 5th ‘Birthday’ from first registration date as detailed on the V5 Logbook.
A proposal has been received suggesting that the vehicle entry age for standard saloons be increased, so that vehicles have to be licensed before their 8th ‘Birthday’ from first registration date, as shown on the V5 Logbook, bring this in line with the current age entry requirement for wheelchair accessible vehicles.
In addition, we would also seek your comments on a proposal that will require drivers of hackney carriage vehicles (taxi’s) to offer the means for passengers to pay by both cash and electronically / card.
In order to gauge your comments on these proposals we would invite you to complete the following questionnaire on these matters.
Why are we consulting
To obtain the views of the hackney carriage (taxi’s) and private hire vehicle trade and that of the wider public and businesses in the area about the proposals above with a view to considering amending the council’s vehicle specification and / or conditions of licence.
Ways to give your views
Please complete the online survey, alternatively paper copies can be made available on request from:
Lee Morgan, Licensing Manager
e-mail: Morgal16@caerphilly.gov.uk

Mae'r arolwg hwn ar gael yn Gymraeg. Mae ar gael mewn ieithoedd a fformatau eraill ar gais. This survey is available in Welsh. It is available in other languages and formats on request.
Expected outcomes
Following the collation and consideration of responses, it is likely that a report will be submitted to the Taxi & General Licensing Committee for its determination in early 2025.
