The council seeks to better understand and address the needs of our older residents within Caerphilly borough, by better recognising the barriers faced in moving to more suitable accommodation in later life.
This project will help the council improve the housing experiences of people in later life by:
Developing a better understanding of housing need.
Optimising the use of existing homes and the provision of new homes.
Developing a range of advice and support services.
For the duration of this project the council will be working in partnership with Housing Lin, experts in researching older people’s housing issues and providing practical, positive solutions to the problems they face. If you would like more information regarding Housing Lin please visit their website at https://www.housinglin.org.uk.
Why are we consulting?
We know that over time, the housing and support needs of people in later life might change. We want to make sure that the housing offer to people in later life reflects their needs and aspirations by ensuring the right types of homes are provided in the right places with the services people require to age positively and live independently.
Ways to give your views
Housing LIN will be undertaking some primary research which will include a survey, focus groups and interviews. The research will take place between April and June 2025. All meetings will be held at suitable locations within the borough. We will share more information on this as the project develops.
Every respondent will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win one of four £50 shopping vouchers!
Mae'r arolwg hwn ar gael yn Gymraeg. Mae ar gael mewn ieithoedd a fformatau eraill ar gais. This survey is available in Welsh. It is available in other languages and formats on request.
Residents who have any specific requirements such as access, hearing loop, require translation facilities or wish to use the Welsh language at any of the events are asked to contact the team at stratanddevelop@caerphilly.gov.uk or by calling 07873702399.
Expected outcomes
Housing LIN will provide the council with a report which provides a series of recommendations to improve the housing offer to people in later life.
