Proposal
The proposal relates to the closure of Rhydri Primary School with effect from July 2025, following a request to consult from the Governing Body of the School made at their meeting of the 14th March 2024.

Why are we consulting?
The requirement to undertake Consultation applies to all of our school proposals in respect of maintained schools. The consultation process represents an opportunity for people to learn about the proposal and make comments that will be recorded and summarised in a Consultation Report which will be considered by our Education and Social Services Scrutiny Committee and the Council's Cabinet.
Stage 1 of the process is designed to gather your views which will be summarised in the Consultation Report.
For these to be included, they must be submitted in writing and submitted within the consultation period dates.
Stage 3 of the process provides that anyone wishing to make objections to a school organisation proposal has the opportunity to do so. To be considered as statutory objections, objections must be made in writing and sent to the Council within the 28-day period.

This is the first consultation stage in the process following the guidance outlined in the School Organisation Code 2018. We are gathering your 'views' about our proposal.
Stage 2 - Consultation Report
Rhydri Primary School has finished this stage
Based on your feedback, as well as from engagement with stakeholders such as Estyn, we will produce a Consultation Report which will summarise the responses, provide clarification on any themes raised and enable Cabinet to decide if the project should proceed to the next stage.
Stage 3 - Statutory Notice report

Subject to Cabinet approval at Stage 2, we will produce a Statutory Notice and an Objection Period will formally open for 28 days. Any Objections will need to be submitted in writing as outlined in the documentation.
Stage 4 - Decision Notification
this is an upcoming stage for Rhydri Primary School
Based on the responses received during the Statutory Notice Period, we will produce an Objection Report to enable Cabinet to make the Final Decision as to whether the proposal proceeds.
