Improved Station Layout
This illustration show our proposals for the new Caerphilly Interchange design, with a focus on the station buildings and facilities.
The area between Cardiff Road and Station Terrace provides the ‘back-bone’ of the station, housing the shops, ticket office and toilet facilities.
At the upper level the active travel hub and a flexible community / retail building open onto new public realm with views of Caerphilly Castle.
Waiting spaces are provided within light weight buildings along the bus concourse, Platform 2 and Platform 3. The whole interchange is united by a new steel canopy structure sitting over the internal spaces.
